I wanted to buy Chris some flowers to say thanks for her support.
When I contacted them, I only asked that they make an arrangement
of flowers for $40 and where to send them. When I got home, Chris
said thanks and asked if I had picked out what I had wanted. I told
her, no, and why? Because, she said, it was a purple arrangement.

Not long after that, Jane experienced a "purple"incident. Her incident
went like this: "It was a typical night when Leon was fast asleep and
snoring as usual.... I normally just wait it out and hope I fall asleep
with time. This night was a bit different as laying there I thought I'll
go and watch Jay Leno, as I hadn't seen the show in a while and it
was approaching the 11:30 pm time frame. I got up and went to the
other room and turned the TV on just as he was coming on stage. To
my surprise he was wearing a Purple Shirt and Purple Tie!!!"

Then, Shawn had a "purple" incident. Shawn said, "Kristy and I don't
really do much for each other for the holidays, but I figured I would
go get some flowers for her for valentines day. Her favorite flower is
the Iris. When I went to buy her some, the only color they had was purple."

Sheila just wrote about her incident. "Aaron and I, have indeed, had
a purple experience. It was on our way back to NY from VT the
weekend after the funeral - the sun was setting as we headed down
I-87 toward the city. The sky turned the normal golden/pink colors,
but just before the sun totally went down, the sky turned to a bright
purple! I did take this as a sign and snapped the attached shot with
my cell phone (which does *nothing* for the color it really was - the
pic makes it look pink, but it was very purple)."

The other day Rose Burl was hearing about all of the "purple"
stories. She was quite amazed and said to herself that she wished
Janet would send her a sign. Shortly after her she went to a
furniture store to see about new carpeting for their house. She
ordered some and upon leaving she asked the man if he would have
a piece of scrap carpeting that she could put on the floor for her
cats. He told her that he had just a piece and went out back to get
it. When he returned, she was surprised and thought to herself
"finally". For the color of that piece of carpet was, of course,
purple.
(I have picture of the carpet, can't get if off of my picture phone)
Nathan wrote to say that since he's been back in California from the
funeral, the trees have been blossoming, and they are a purple. He
sent the following picture of him and his friend Yohko in front on
one of those trees. Jimmy also wrote to say almost the same thing.
The trees in the yard of the house he just bought are blossoming in
the color purple.

It's been almost 4 months, and Mom is still sending us signs. Last
Monday, Memorial Day, Dad went to a memorial service where the
local people who have passed away are recognized. As they call each
name, a family member comes up and they are given a flower (don't
get ahead of me). As Mom's name was called, Dad went up and was
given a flower, maybe a rose, and of course, you guessed it, it was
purple. Thanks, Mom.

Beth was in a store, not too long ago and it happen to be the a year after she graduated from high school. While in the store she was reminiscing about the event and thought of Grandma Bowler who attended he graduation. She was still remembering that moment of time when she walked out of the store and then she stopped in her tracks as she saw a man walk out of the store across the street wearing a deep purple shirt.
Some would say that these are only coincidences, while others might
say the Mom is letting us know that she's okay. As Dad has said,
"Believe or Not". I'm sure there are others out there who have
experienced a "purple" incident. If so, send in a note telling me
of the incident, with a photo if possible, and I'll add it to this
blog.
Last Sunday, May 10th, 2009, we decided to take the Mt. Washington Mother's Day Cruise with a breakfast buffet on Lake Winnipesaukee. I don't have a lot of regrets with Mom, but of the few "I wish we would have done" ideas, I wish that we had taken her on a cruise with this ship. Without mentioning it, both Chris and I were thinking of her as we boarded the ship and found a table closest to the buffet line. As we took in the ambiance of the ship, the mountain views, and the food, we all of a sudden noticed that the table cloths and napkins were all in purple. The cruise was two and a half hours as we traveled from one end of the lake to the other and back. The food was great, the view was fantastic, and they had various entertainment throughout the boat. Then to top it off, when we left the ship, they were giving flowers out to the mothers who were on board. It may not be as clear in the photo below, but the one they gave Chris was a carnation with, yes, purple tips. I hope you enjoyed the cruise. Mom.
